Козёл отпущения. Первоначальное значение — проигравший борец, т. е. тот, кого чаще сбивают с ног. Как только спортивная борьба стала популярной, результаты соревнований стали часто подтасовываться. Победитель был известен заранее, а якобы проигравший соперник соглашался падать (fall). Сейчас a fall guy — человек, который вынужден нести ответственность за что-либо, независимо от того, знает ли он, что происходит или ситуация была подстроена без его ведома.
